This policy covers the Ensō iOS app and the ensomeditationtimer.app website. We've tried to keep it short, plain, and honest.
The short version
Ensō stores your data on your device. We don't have user accounts, don't run analytics, don't show ads, and don't track you. Nothing you do in the app leaves your iPhone or iPad except where explicitly noted below (Apple Health and the App Store).
What Ensō stores on your device
- Your presets, timer settings, and chosen bells
- Your session history and meditation streak
- Your in-app purchase entitlements (e.g., which bells you own)
This data lives locally on your device. It is not sent to any server operated by us. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
Apple Health
If you grant permission, completed sessions are logged to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes. This data is written directly to the Health app — we do not receive a copy. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Ensō. Health data may sync across your Apple devices via iCloud if you have that enabled, but that's handled by Apple, not us.
Notifications
Ensō can schedule local notifications (reminders to meditate). These are delivered by iOS on your device — they do not pass through our servers. You can disable them at any time in Settings.
Spotlight & Shortcuts
Your saved presets are made searchable by Spotlight so you can activate them from the home screen. This indexing is performed locally on your device by iOS.
In-App Purchases
Bells and the Value Pack are sold through the App Store. Payment, billing, and receipt handling are performed entirely by Apple. We receive an entitlement confirmation from Apple (e.g., "this user has purchased this bell") but we do not receive your name, credit card, address, or email.
Analytics & tracking
There are none. No third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no user-tracking identifiers, no web beacons. The app makes no network requests except to validate App Store purchases via Apple's systems.
The website
ensomeditationtimer.app is a static website. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics, and does not collect form submissions. The "Email us" link opens your mail client — messages you send us are handled by our email provider and used only to respond to you.
Children's privacy
Ensō is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, this follows naturally.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything meaningful, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in-app.
